C4 Energy x Sarah Wilson
An artist’s journey to honor female essential workers and move past perfectionism in the process.
The Ask: Find an Austin-based creative professional to feature in a story that celebrates the essence of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
The Idea: Share how Sarah Wilson’s artistic expression evolved while photographing frontline female essential workers during the pandemic, and translate her growth into a lesson anyone can apply to their own life.
My Role: Story researcher, producer, director, editor and colorist.
To Change is to Break Yourself
I spoke with Sarah Wilson, an Austin-based artist, early on during our search for who to feature in C4 Energy’s story for Women’s History Month. We knew Sarah’s message would be the perfect match after our first conversation, so we went all in on bringing it to life.
The idea that to move forward in life means sometimes breaking yourself in the process emerged as a theme early on in our discovery phase with Sarah, and it became the anchor for the narrative. The result is a story that anyone can draw meaning from, along with a recognition of the sacrifice and perseverance of the women that went to work every day to serve their community during a time of crisis.
